If there is one thing that really makes the MG ZS different from its Rover 45 brother, it’s the range of colours offered by MG Rover. Vivid and eye catching, it underlined exactly what the new MG range was all about. These cars were different, individual, and special even.
If one colour is the perfect example of this, it’s Trophy Yellow. Loud, in-your-face, and impossible to ignore, Andy’s (or Shroonie as he’s known on the forum) saloon is one ZS that you won’t forget in a hurry.

Backed up by the excellent 2.5 KV6 power-plant, Andy’s car represents the best of the best in the ZS range, and Andy, quite rightly is proud of his car.

“I was looking for a new motor, thinking about Impreza’s, that sort of thing, but as soon as I saw the ZS, I knew it was what I wanted. The V6, the fact its British built, and the BTCC success all made it appeal to me.”

With Andy clearly smitten with the beast the salesman had an easy job, you can’t put a price on love and £8000 was a small price to pay for so much car. Four years down the line Andy still feels that initial excitement when he drives the car “I love the way she feels special every time I drive her, it's like she has a soul. Am I mad?”

Andy’s mods to the car have been subtle enough to retain the original styling that made the ZS such a fine car, improving it with MG X-Power SV badges replacing the standard items. An ITG Maxogen induction kit together with a Piper cat-back exhaust Sports cat help the mighty V6 breath better and add to the fantastic sound associated with it, the BTCC inspiration is clearly felt in the cabin with Corbeau Forza front seats and four point harness replacing the original seats and belts keeping you in control during more, ahem, ‘spirited’ driving moments! Andy has also removed the rear seats and added an MG monogram steering wheel. The track-day enhancements are not to the detriment of the car however, this is a daily driver and so Andy has improved the standard ICE install by adding a Sony head unit, an improvement of the factory-spec Kenwood item.

So there you have it, a fine example of everything that made the MG ZS such a superb car, as Jeremy Clarkson once said of the 180 saloon “You should try one, its bloody good.”
